Former archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie has
expressed concern over Prince Charles' interest in
Hinduism, a new biography of Runcie published by the
London Times says.

An excerpt from the book published on Tuesday said
Charles "wants to be exploring Hinduism with people in
the inner cities."

The former archbishop was not satisfied with the depth of
faith in the church of either the Prince or Princess
Diana.

The former archbishop is quoted as saying that when the
royal couple's marriage started failing, Charles urged
him to talk to Diana about the Christian faith, which the
Prince felt was lacking in her life. Runcie held two or
three rounds of conversations with the Princess which
were unsuccessful.

The former archbishop also found Prince Charles' own
religious views inconsistent.

"He is on about the grandeur of our cathedrals and the
epic language of the prayer book," Runcie said adding
that "but he wants to be exploring Hinduism with people
in the inner cities."
