Mr R Kumaramangalam said here on Friday that the entry of Ms
Sonia Gandhi into active politics would not help the Congress and
its leaders would be interested only in exploiting her.
He was replying to a question from newspersons at the state BJP
headquarters here as to whether he would go back to the Congress
if Ms Sonia Gandhi plunged into politics. Mr Kumaramangalam said
about 600 Congress workers had joined the State unit of the BJP
on Friday. About 5,000 Congress activists from Salem had joined
the party along with 20 office-bearers on Thursday, he added.
Asked whether he from Salem, Mr Kumaramangalam Sabha election
>from Salem, Mr Kumaramangalam said it was for the BJP leadership
to decide. The BJP was the only party which could attract
youngsters willing to serve the nation, he claimed. On corruption
charges faced by former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J
Jayalalitha, Mr Kumaramangalam said it was for the courts to
decide the issue. He said the BJP was the only party which could
form a stable Government. On Hindutva, he said the Supreme Court
had ruled that the term referred to the national ethos and the
Indian way of life.
The party was not at all communal, he added.
