The Special Task Force of Uttar
Pradesh Police and the Central intelligence agencies unravelled an ISI
plot to recruit fanatic Muslim boys from Uttar Pradesh for terror acts
in various European countries.
Director General of Police Radehy
Mohan Shukla said that the plot had come to light after hearing taped audio
conversations between the Bangladeshi ISI agent Mamnur Rashid and his Indian
conduit Zafar Naim.
Naim, it is learnt, is an advocate
by profession and belongs to Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He was
arrested along with Rashid yesterday.
Interestingly, he had sometime ago
contested in Assembly election on Rashtriya Janata Dal's ticket.
As revealed from their taped audio
conversations, the two are on the payrolls of the ISI and were constantly
seeking directives from across the border from Faiyyaz and Alam at the
Pakistan Consulate General in Dhaka.
While Fayaz is a listed Pakistani
intelligence officer, Alam owns Mac Industries and is said to be providing
funds for recruitment of fanatic young Muslim boys from Uttar Pradesh who
could be sent for terrorist activities in European countries.
Intelligence sources revealed that
Mamnur had also spoken to another officer of the Pakistani diplomatic office
in Ukaraine about preparing Muslim youths there for deployment to India.
Sources confirmed that the ISI had
drafted a plot to procure Indian passports and send foreigners including,
Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Ukaranians and Indonesians to France and United
Kingdom to execute terrorist plots.
