Introduction: The party that used
to pooh-pooh the mullahs and bishops is now bending backwards to appease
the Muslims and Christians. The party's state meet at Malappuram in February
saw the entire district being plastered with the pictures of Yasser Arafat
to keep the Muslim community in good humour.
The media and government machinery
in the state have been fully infiltrated by the CPI(M) cadre. Whether it
is the Departments of Police or Social Welfare, it is the Marxists who
call the shots in the state.
The hypocrisy and double standard
of the CPI(M) were exposed in full when the Party leaders appeared before
the press following the gruesome murder of Aswini Kumar, the RSS Bauddhik
Pramukh at Iritty near Kannur. The CPI(M) leader Jayarajan held a press
conference to justify the killing of Aswini!. The CPI(M) state conference
at Malappuram threw to winds all norms of the civilized society when the
delegates raised slogans in support of the party workers who killed Yuva
Morcha leader Jayakrishnan at Kannur.
The murderers of Jayakrishnan have
been sentenced to death and are awaiting the outcome of the appeal filed
by them in the Kerala High Court. The sad part of the story is that Jayakrishnan,
a school teacher, was murdered by the CPI(M) workers in the class room
in front of his students. It was the evidence given by the students, which
turned the case against the CPI(M) workers. A political outfit, which has
scant regard for the law of the land, salut the murderers sentenced to
death by the court!
The minority appeasement by the
CPI(M) could very well be understood from the grim realities faced by the
comrades. The Ezhavas and Thiyyas, main pillars of the party, are leaving
the Marxist camp following the prosperity made by these communities. With
the Hindu community members slowly getting awakened to the ground realities,
the Marxists saw the writing on the wall. The party that used to pooh-pooh
the mullahs and bishops is now bending backwards to appease the Muslims
and Christians. The party's state meet at Malappuram in February saw the
entire district being plastered with the pictures of Yasser Arafat to keep
the Muslim community in good humour. Of late, the CPI(M) fields candidates
depending on the caste which dominates the constituency concerned. During
the 2004 Lok Sabha election, the party fielded Manoj Kurishinkal and Sebastian
Paul belonging to the Latin Christian community from Ernakulam and Alappuzha.
The Latin Catholic community is the deciding factor in both the districts.
The reasoning given by Pinarayi Vijayan, the CPI(M) boss in Kerala, looked
ludicrous. "We do not go by the religion to which the candidates belong.
At Ernakulam and Alappuzha, we fielded candidates with more winning chances.
And it is rather coincidental that both of them happened to be from the
same religion," claimed Vijayan.
Sebastian Paul contested the Ernakulam
seat as an independent. Vijayan had a ready made answer for that also.
"There are many people who are fed up with the Congress and BJP. But many
among them may find it very difficult to vote for the 'hammer and sickle',
the CPI(M) symbol. It is for the convenience of such people that we field
an independent candidate," explained the party secretary!
The main demand by the Muslim League
and some of the Christian churches in the state for reservation in government
service has been accepted by the CPI(M). The Church wants reservation for
Dalits who got converted to Christianity. The Marxists readily accepted
all the demands from the fundamentalists belonging to these communities.
The party villages in northern Kerala
are the breeding ground for extremists and terrorists. The cadre in party
villages do not allow any other political parties to function from these
villages. Newspapers other than Deshabhimani, the CPI(M) mouthpiece, are
not allowed in these party villages. The sad thing is that the CPI(M) is
slowly falling into the control of terrorist organisations like NDF and
Al-Ummah.
The CPI(M) leadership is under the
notion that if the Hindu population in Kerala comes down quite drastically,
they can reign supreme with the active support of the minorities. Tarun
Gogoi, the Chief Minister of Assam, was warned the other day by one of
the Muslim fundamentalist organisations that they would see to it that
the Congress is voted out in the next election if their demand of citizenship
for all illegal Bangladeshi immigrants is not met by the government. This
newsitem was not carried by any of the Kerala newspapers since the CPI(M)
does not want to hurt the sentiments of the minorities in the state.
With the active support of the Congress
and the CPI(M), the evangelists are having a free run all over the state.
If anyone questions the missionaries for hitting below the belt, he is
labeled as a RSS terrorist. It is the season of minority appeasement in
Kerala.
