Interrogation of a terrorist arrested in Goa has revealed that a Pakistan-based militant outfit was planning to strike at busy tourist places in the state.

Tarique Anwar, who was arrested with explosives and firearms from Margao railway station, has confessed that the Pakistan-based Tariq-ul-Mujahid, to which he belongs to, "was targeting tourist places in Goa", police sources said. Anwar was arrested while alighting from the Ernakulam bound Matsyagandha Express at Margao, 30 km from Panaji. The police have recovered 2 kg of RDX, two hand grenades and other explosives from him, the sources said.

Anwar also said that he was trained for two-and-a-half-years in a Pakistan camp. "He had been frequenting Goa for the last six months and was staying near Margao city," they said. However, they revealed that "Tariq was just a carrier of explosives". The executor of the attack was yet to arrive in the state, they said.
