Holding UPA government responsible for growing
terrorism and poverty, firebrand BJP leader Narendra Modi on Sunday said "weak
and old" Congress has become a burden for the country which needs a strong
NDA to ensure safety and security of the people.
"UPA government failed to tackle growing
terrorism due to its weakness and wrong policies which weakened internal security
of the country," the Gujarat chief minister said addressing an election
meeting here.
Described as BJP's Hindutva mascot, Modi said
Congress had been surviving by creating problems in the country and insecurity
and fear in people's mind.
"Congress has not only become weak and
old but a burden for the people," he said asking the voters to reject
the old party and choose BJP which can solve all their problems, including
terrorism and unemployment.
"An old Congress can not change the fate
of the youth," he said and pleaded for a young BJP government committed
to peaceful and steady development of the country.
In a scathing attack on Congress accusing
it of failing to curb terrorism, Modi said there was no need for a minister
to go to the US to seek help after Mumbai terror attack.
The BJP stalwart further claimed that the
government replied to 30 questions put by Pakistan on Mumbai attack.
He said terrorism has been increasing day
by day which can be solved by a strong government and "we Indians and
particularly our youths, have the guts to save the country from terrorist
attack."
It is a matter of regret that the present
government does not want to solve the problem just to encash the vote bank,
Modi alleged.
Referring to Congress manifesto, he said Congress
had promised to provide wheat at Rs 3 per kg to the poor which is meaningless
as his government in Gujarat had been providing wheat at Rs 2 per kg.
He said Congress in its manifesto before the
last election had promised to provide 1.5 crore employment.
But unfortunately, about 5 lakh people has
lost their jobs recently due to faulty policies and mismanagement, Modi added.
He appealed to youths "if you want your
security and job, remove this UPA government in Delhi".
While UPA had been crippled after several
of its constituents quit the alliance, "people are virtually sitting
in a sinking boat", Modi said.
