The BJP's new posterboy Varun Gandhi, on Monday, charged the Mayawati Government with politicising the state police and also accused it of resorting to all the unfair means to win elections.

Now the time had come when the youth must take up the cudgel and root out the BSP government, he said.

Varun was in the state capital on Monday to address election meeting in favour of BJP's Mohanlalganj candidate Ranjan Chaudhari.

During his speech, Varun lambasted those who indulged in caste politics. He also claimed that irrespective of his fate, he would keep on opposing the anti-national elements who were carrying out the terrorist activities in the country.

In his 25-minute speech at Power House crossing in Ashiana, Varun said during his 21-day stay in jail, he never bothered about himself. "I went to jail for protecting the interests of our people and will always do so whenever the prestige of our people will be at stake," he asserted.

He also made it clear that he was not against any religion but could not tolerate anti-national elements at any cost.

He said that the ensuing elections would decide whether nationalist forces would emerge victorious or those who were only busy in thinking the ways to win the elections by hook or crook by indulging in the blatant caste politics.

He said that he had not come into the politics to get name or wealth but to serve the nation. "No one can stop me from serving my country," he said.

Recalling his father Sanjay Gandhi, Varun said that he was just 100-day-old, when he died but people used to say that he was a man of courage and strong will. Had he been alive, the scenario of the country would have been altogether different.

Attacking the Congress he said that his mother had taught him that one should not speak adversely about anyone who was on the brink of collapsing. "Sticking to her advice, I will not say anything about the Congress party as its heading towards its end," he said.

Praising the BJP candidate from Mohanlalganj, Varun said that he was happy to campaign for a young and educated candidate like Ranjan Chaudhari.

The BJP star campaigner expressed concern over the lacklustre attitude of the political parties towards the youth.

He, however, claimed that only the BJP under stewardship of LK Advani could provide the country a progressive and strong government.
