Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, while sharing dais with BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a public meeting at Barchanaon Wednesday, criticised the Congress for making Orissa poorer.

NCP leader and party candidate from Barchana former Minister Amar Prasad Satapathy presided over the meeting at Janakalyana High School grounds. Speaking on the occasion Pawar criticised the Congress in the State and hailed Naveen's 'pro-people' act. He gave a call to oust BJP from power in the State, as it was a communal party and vote for the NCP-BJD alliance for the overall growth of Orissa.

Naveen also described how his Government has taken several steps for the growth of the poor and downtrodden. He emphasised on industrialisation, growth of communication, road transport and supply of rice to poor at Rs 2 per kg. Among others, senior NCP leader Prahallad Nanda, BJD leader Akshaya Dhal and Barchana block chairperson Itishree Samal also spoke on the occasion.
