In a strong reaction to the statement of Nationalist
Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar that RSS is behind several blasts,
the Bhartiya Janta Party on Monday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission
for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.
As per the media reports the BJP spokesperson
Madhav Bhandari in a written complaint with the EC said that Pawar's statement
was mischievous and meant for strengthening Muslim vote bank through defaming
Hindu leaders and organizations. The compliant wrote that Pawar is guilty
of violating the model code of conduct as he tried to create hatred between
two communities.
Earlier, Mr Pawar had stated on Sunday in
a meeting of UPA allies in Maharashtra that RSS was involved in several blasts
in the country including those in Nanded, Parbhani and Ajmer. Indicating that
the Hindu elements were behind blasts throughout the country he had said that
after the arrest of accused (all Hindus) in September 29 Malegaon blasts no
explosions took place.
Mr Bhandari reportedly said that the court
is yet to give any ruling in the Malegaon blasts case adding that Pawar has
been a guilty of violation of moral code of conduct by misusing a sub-judice
matter.
The state BJP president Nitin Gadkari called
the statement of Pawar unfortunate and laughable and said that we are lucky
that he did not say that Ajmal Qasab was also an RSS activist.
On the other hand most of the Muslims called
the statement of Sharad Pawar a trick to collect Muslim votes.
"The statement of Sharad Pawar is but
for elections. He is the person who let the police target Muslims freely in
1992-93 Mumbai communal riots. At least 254 Muslims faced the police bullets
on their foreheads and chests between J.J Hospital and Pydhoni" alleged
Farid Shaikh, the president of Mumbai Aman Committee, which did a lot for
Muslims affected by the Mumbai communal riots.
Talking to TwoCircles.net, he further said,
"POTA and TADA were imposed on his directions. The elements who carried
out the riots were the same but where was Pawar at that time? He is trying
to appease Muslims nothing else but neither Muslims nor secular Hindus are
with him."
The organizer of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Hind Shafeequr
Rahman told TCN that he is not sure that Pawar will maintain his statement
after the elections. "Though Pawar has said it for elections but it is
an undeniable fact. If he does not change his statement later Muslims can
hold him accountable if his party comes into power."
Shabbir Deshmukh, the Mumbai president of
Movement for Peace & Justice (MPJ), said that Pawar has given the statement
keeping an eye on the forthcoming elections. "Where was he when Nanded
blasts had taken place in Congress-NCP rule and fake beards were found in
Hindus' houses? But now Muslims can not be cheated because they understand
all these things."
