Mewat, the complex and densely populated district
of Haryana, south of the Capital, is in focus again. Investigating agencies
have picked up three suspects from this area that could be linked to Delhi
High Court blast.
It has been reliably learnt that agencies
have picked up some vital leads during investigation. Also the profiling of
all those suspects who according to the investigators were hard core, had
thrown up many clues. Joint teams of Delhi Police and NIA were sifting through
the passenger manifest of aviation companies and the guest list of up market
hotels and some 70 odd guest houses to identify the conspirators.
Mewat cropped up after investigators scanned
thousands of cellphone calls that were made before and after the blast. Cops
had zeroed on two numbers that were used to relay messages. The suspects were
identified and picked up for questioning. Over 50 persons have been questioned
by now and fresh leads have started to emerge, the sources said.
Investigators are now sure that those behind
the Wednesday blasts had carried out a detailed reconnaissance before zeroing
in on the final target. The precision with which the bomb was planted in the
crowded reception area of Delhi High Court have baffled the police.
Source said, the bombers reached the High
Court premises in a car and got away after placing the Improvised Explosive
Device. Since the bomb was in live mode, carrying it on a bike would have
been risky, they said.
Those behind the blast had carefully developed
their arrival and the escape routes. For them it was very easy to escape from
the spot as Nizamuddin, New Delhi railway stations, Sarai Kale Khan and Anand
Vihar Inter-State Bus Terminuses provide easy escape routes. Had they decide
to use a getaway car, it would take not more than 30 minutes to be out of
Delhi.
Investigators are also taking the first e-mail
that was sent from a cyber café in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir
district to a media house on the day of the blast very seriously.
It appears to have some substance as those
picked up for questioning are related to surrendered militants.
Investigators had said on Monday that they
were questioning two more suspects in connection with the alleged HuJI e-mail
that had claimed responsibility for the blast outside the Delhi High Court.
Sadiq Ahmed and Abid Hussain were being questioned in connection with the
HuJI e-mail. Sadiq and Abid are the relatives of surrendered militants.
In a related development, investigators have
summoned officials of mobile service providers of Kolkata whose numbers were
used for sending two-emails about the blasts. One Sunny Sharma who allegedly
sent the two e-mails has been summoned by the NIA for questioning.
In a related development, NIA on Tuesday jacked
the award money up to Rs 10 lakh to anybody who provided any information that
could lead to the nabbing of the accused of the Delhi High Court blast.
