Two accused in the Ajmer Dargah blast case have told a special court that they have been offered a considerable amount of money by the National Investigation Agency to implicate three senior RSS functionaries.

In separate applications to the special court hearing the case, the duo also alleged that the agency was torturing them.

The duo, Mukesh Wasani and Harshad Solanki, claimed to be under pressure from the NIA to confess that the three functionaries had also ordered them to eliminate Sunil Joshi, an RSS pracharak and another accused in the blast case. Joshi was murdered near Ratlam a few days after the Dargah blast. Wasani and Solanki are also accused in the murder of Joshi. Their applications are likely to come up in court on Saturday.

The duo is in judicial remand and was interrogated by NIA sleuths for three days from April 16. In their applications, they said they were offered Rs1 crore each if they were willing to name three senior RSS functionaries in both the cases. According to their applications, they were also promised that cases against them would be withdrawn if they corroborated NIA’s version of the crimes.

During interrogation, the duo alleged, the sleuths had told them that Anandraj Kataria, one of their colleagues lodged in the Indore jail, had already confessed to involvement in Joshi’s murder.

Mukesh Singh, the DIG of NIA, however, rubbished these allegations. He said that the move was typical in such cases wherein it is used as a tactic to stall interrogation.

Notably, this is not the first team against which such an application has been filed. Earlier this year, Swami Aseemanand, one of the accused in Dargah and Mecca Masjid blasts, had filed a petition in the court saying that his confessional statement was extorted from him under duress and it should not be taken for consideration by the court.

Before the NIA took over the investigation of Dargah blast, SIT during probe of the case repeatedly said Indresh Kumar, one of the senior RSS functionary, was present in a meeting at Jaipur, in which the Dargah blast was planned. But neither the SIT nor the NIA has so far have questioned Indresh Kumar in this regard.
