In a country where 76 security personnel are killed. Their martyr is celebrated in a famous university of the country.

A university situated in the country’s capital celebrates the death anniversary of the terrorist Afzal Guru. The imprisoned naxalites has taken the name of professors of established universities and some activists.

Many urban people trying maoist activities are being nabbed. After all, who are these people? What do they do? And why do they do all this?

Actually, all these issues come out by and large from an incident which took place in 2018. Last year Pune police arrested some so called urban maoists. Many people were arrested from different parts of the country for Bhima-Koregaon riots. These are called as ‘Urban Naxalites’. After this incident, the term ‘Urban Naxalite’ was used in social media and main stream media.

With an apprehension of having connections with the naxalites and maoists, these people were called by the name of ‘Urban Naxalites’. In a way, those intellectuals who were affiliated with the naxalites or Maoists and carried activities on behalf of the later were known as “the urban naxalites.”

A section of people staying in cities are involved in maoist and naxal activities and are directly or indirectly helping the naxalites in the name of journalism, poets, writers, intellectuals, human rights activists, feminist and so on. This section includes many intellectuals too who claimed of being neutral and impartial.

Naxalbadi and the naxalism emerged from there is well known to everyone. Its shortcomings and activities are understood and explained in detail. But the urban expansion of naxalism and its methodologies has been mysterious ever since. Time and again there have been examples as to how naxalism is spreading due to the aid given to them through the cities. But no one studied keenly or analyzed on this subject. This is the reason that when the maoist supporters were termed as ‘Urban Naxalites’ then the extremists “Me too Urban Naxalite” campaign involved the so called neutral youths also.

The outline of urban delusion of Maoism was prepared in 2004. In India, the naxalite violence started to takeover the field of intellectuals in 1980s. From educational institutes to social organizations all were under the influence of this. In 2004, the Communist party of India (CPI) was formed by the dissolution of CPI (Marxist- Leninist), People’s war group (PWG) and the Maoists Communist Centre. It was only after the formation of CPI that the naxalism travelled from forests to cities.

CPI released one document in 2004. It was mentioned that how delighted the naxalites were of its urbanization and would like to expand to metros. The naxalism follows leftist ideologies and therefore the leftist supporters everywhere around the world provided aid at many levels to the naxalites of India.

The document released in 2004 “CPI: Urban Perspective” stated the strategy for expansion of naxalism in the cities. The attempt to search for leadership in cities was mentioned in this document. It laid stress on involving middle class workers, students, working class, women, dalits, people from religious minorities and society’s intellectuals so that they support the naxalite ideologies. Industrial labours were encouraged to organize and participate in rallies and military activities at different places.

Because some cases are involved in legal stratagem that is why most of the leading institutions associated with it are seen working with human rights organizations and NGOs.

CPI (Maoist) and other organizations associated with it are listed in the name of terrorist organizations. In spite of this many leading institutions which support naxalism are quite active in both small and big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi, Hyderabad, Tiruvananathpuram, Chandigarh and Pune.

If we take a keen look we can clearly see that how the naxalite leadership has emerged from the jungles to the cities. From fulfillment of resources to giving guidelines, everything is being conducted from the cities. Time and again the police has arrested people from different fields like arts, education, literature, media, law who are directly involved in naxalite activities.

When we talk about the perspective of naxalism in cities, it is necessary to know the root cause behind this. After all, how can a writer or journalist sitting in cities help Naxalites? How can one human rights activist raise the voice of naxalites? For this, it is important to understand the Maoism in India. And to understand Maoism we need to understand Mao.

Mao means Mao-tse-tung (Mao Zedong), a Chinese communist leader who later became a despotic dictator. The decisions taken by Mao are adopted by the leftist sitting in India. The naxalism in India is a clone of Mao’s strategy.

There has been much analysis on the urban naxalism in India but these activities are not seen in relation to the activities of Mao Zedong (the long march) and the strategies played in that time are now being repeated.

In 1934, in order to save the communist army from the Chinese government (Nationalist Govt) a long march was conducted. This army, like today’s Maoist worked against the governance as gorilla war. This long march was lead by Mao Zedong. In this march of 370 days Mao and the army crossed almost 22 rivers and many mountains. At last, this march was a success. The main reason behind the success of this march was that the people associated with Mao Zedong were involved in different media groups and literature world. Within intervals they were used to inform about the governmental activities and other useful information. The information was sent by the medium of literatures and articles. In this way, Mao Zedong, during the course of this march, made full use of newspapers and literatures.

Now, let’s take a careful look at the activities taking place in the present. Newspapers in every language are sent to the naxalites. Several magazines are published in relation to this.

It is illegal to keep and read naxalite literature but in today’s digital era there is no lack of media. When there was nothing like social media that time, Mao Zedong, due to the urbanization of communism brought his armed rebel and gorilla war and presented it as a revolution to the whole world. Today, the so called revolutionists have unlimited alternative resources for circulation.

Urban naxalism is the problem which is creating a hollow in the country’s system. An urban naxal tries to cover the wrong acts done by the naxalites and tries to justify it.

The lawyer gives advice, a literate journalist gives and receives information, a poet writes and sings ode on naxalites’ ideologies, a film director makes a movie which creates sympathy for naxalites, and a writer justifies the naxalite incidents by trying to tell the reasons behind it.

It is a group which cries out about human rights of naxalites on their encounter. All this directly or indirectly promotes such ideologies which encourages naxalism. It attempts to cover the feeling of hatred towards naxalism into sympathy.

But the question is that why do they do this? Some say that they do this for money. Yes, it is true that a section of people do all these activities for the sake of money but there are some who are completely brainwashed. The communist thinkers in the name of professors of reputed universities and the officials (urban naxalites) slowly and gradually are giving this sweet poison of leftism to their students.

The poor and the middle class youths from small cities are at the centre of this. They are brainwashed in such a way that they themselves don’t realize that in which direction they are moving. Not only this, but right from big universities to universities in Bastar and Tripura to tribal places the leftist in the name of social workers and professors not only brainwash the students and the tribal people but also exploit them.

Several incidences have occurred when the people arrested by police and naxalites who have surrendered have accepted that there are certain self-proclaimed intellectuals who are involved in naxalite activities in which professors of Delhi Universities and well known socialist are also involved.

Albeit, it can be clearly seen that there has been awareness towards Naxalism and leftism in the country. But an ecosystem still tries to call the naxalites and urban naxalites by the name of ‘activists’. They think that there must be campaigns to save the people who help naxalites from police and law. But the speed at which the leftist and naxalites‘urban face is exposed the day is not far when the country’s urban naxalites will be masked off.
