The Wire's 26 August video has claimed that no newspapers have been published in Kashmir after 5th August.

Ever since the government of India stripped Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, leftist ‘journalists’ and media portals have been going overboard claiming all kinds of atrocities and human rights violation by security forces in Kashmir.

Keeping true to their constant narrative peddling, leftist portal The Wire had shared a video where ‘senior journalists’ were seen discussing the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Senior Journalist Jaishankar Gupta, who was a part of the discussion panel with Urmilesh and fellow journalist Prem Shankar Jha, stated in the video that after 5th August 2019, not a single newspaper has been printed in Jammu and Kashmir. The video was posted by The Wire on 26 August.

Doordarshan journalist Ashok Shrivastav has exposed the lies of these so-called ‘senior journalists’ and ‘Kashmir experts’. In a TV debate, Shrivastav showed a clip of the video and proved that the claims made by the ‘senior journalists’ are false and there are a number of newspapers being published regularly from Srinagar itself.

In the video by The Wire, it was claimed that the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir is ‘worse than the emergency’ because no newspapers are being published and the people are being deprived of all news.

DD news report by Ashok Shrivastav showed the ground reality from Srinagar and called out the lies peddled by The Wire.

Shrivastav listed out the newspapers that have been published from Srinagar all the while. He showed visuals of a number of newspapers, namely, Greater Kashmir,  Rising Kashmir, Kashmir Uzma, Tamir Irshad(Urdu), Kashmir Image, Kashmir Reader, Kashmir time and many more. All the newspapers were the latest editions and there were old newspapers from earlier weeks too, clearly proving that newspaper publication has not been stopped as claimed repeatedly by The Wire.

The Wire’s tendency to peddle blatant lies as ‘news’ has also been exposed before. Recently, they had claimed that Kashmir has a shortage of life-saving medicines as the government has imposed restrictions in the region. Their lie was called out by the authorities who shared data to show that there has been no medicine shortage in shops or with distributors.

Recently, a journalist from The Wire was caught trying to manipulate the statement of Dalit victims who were attacked by Muslims, in order to claim that there was no hate crime involved.

The Wire constantly publishes articles fanning an anti-India and anti-Hindu narrative. They were also recently slammed by the Supreme Court for their claims against Jay Shah in a defamation case filed by Shah. The SC had termed The Wire’s coverage as ‘nothing short of yellow journalism’.
