India is in a unique position as being a market economy, we have relations with the advanced countries and we also have strong bonding with African and Asian countries. There is new energy in reaching out", said EAM S Jaishankar while addressing the delegates at World Economic Forum's India Economic Summit in the national capital today.

He noted that India, as largest regional economy possesses a lot of responsibility. "We have made great efforts in building connectivity, better flow of people. We have ambitious lines of credit, training numbers are up and we have gone into new areas", he added

Further focussing over the diplomatic relations with the neigbouring countries, Jaishankar said that India had set aside orthodox reciprocal diplomacy with its neighbours, having their economies connected. "Our ties with all countries are increasing in connectivity, people exchanges and business", he added,

Jaishankar having bilateral talks with the US counterpart a couple of days earlier had opined that trade deals were not simple arithmetic but much more complicated as they involve a number of variables. He also exuded confidence that India and US would find a fix to their trade disputes with intense engagement going on between the two countries.

Trade tensions between India and the US have been rising with President Donald Trump complaining that tariffs imposed by New Delhi on American products were no longer acceptable. He, championing his 'America First' policy, has been a vocal critic of India for levying tremendously high duties on US products, naming India as a tariff king.
