Attack on Fadnavis or oneself?

Targeting a leader like Fadnavis clearly means inviting trouble upon oneself due to one's action and endangering one’s political career. Whether the party will take action against them or not is entirely up to the party. We cannot give any advice regarding that. But public will definitely take an action. There is no need to give advice to people. Public mind is much matured. It is capable to decide which member from the Munde family would be the winner and which one to be defeated. There is no need to preach the public mind.

Pankaja Munde and Eknath Khadse have targeted Devendra Fadnavis. Had Devendra Fadnavis been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, these two would not have dared to target him. This is the difference between being a Chief Minister and not being a Chief Minister. It is said that success has many fathers but failure is an orphan. It does not mean that Devendra Fadnavis failed in the assembly elections. Out of a total number of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, only 145 seats came to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This was the first mistake. 144 seats are required to prove the majority to form the government. It was impossible to win these many seats. Shiv Sena knew this. Though Shiv Sena won only 56 seats the party demanded an equal share in the power and the post of Chief Minister for 2.5 years. BJP did not accept it. Therefore, they did not come to power. Devendra Fadnavis could not become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This is his so-called failure. Now, whether to call it a failure or something else—there can be a difference of opinion!

However, the reality remains that he is not in power. Further, Pankaja Munde lost her seat in Parli. She herself is responsible for the loss. Even Modi and Shah had come for her election campaign. Pankaja served as a minister in the Fadnavis led cabinet. The party was behind her. In spite of this big asset she was defeated. She has been sulking since her defeat and she started blaming the party for her failure.  Eknath Khadse made statements, “She lost because some leaders from the party worked against her.” Media was just waiting for this. Actually they should search reasons of Pankaja’s defeat by visiting Parli. They should find out the kind of image she has formed in the minds of voters and workers there. But media does not do this. They intentionally keep on broadcasting provoking statements.

We do not know whether they realize the fact that these statements are beneficial neither to Pankaja Munde nor to Eknath Khadse. Newspapers are often responsible to make ‘paper tigers’ by making front page stories on some leaders. These leaders are in for a big trouble and disappointment if they start considering themselves ‘tigers’ by reading such stories. If Raj Thackeray conducts a meeting, then newspapers will definitely make it a front page story. However, the fact remains that Raj Thackeray is not a ‘tiger’ ---Raj Thackeray himself may not realise it but the people definitely know it.

Eknath Khadse’s daughter Rohini also lost her seat. Shiv Sena local leaders are responsible for her defeat. Shiv Sena worked for the defeat of many BJP candidates in the assembly elections; sadly Rohini was also one of them. Dr Savara also lost from Wada. He is the son of Vishnu Savara. Shiv Sena is responsible for his failure. But Savara father-son duo is quiet. He did not babble-- “Just because I am adivasi, some leaders from my party worked against me. They are responsible for my defeat. There is no place for me in the BJP.”   Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde often play backward class card. They target Devendra Fadnavis. They do not openly say it but they try to show that Fadnavis is a Brahmin and that is why they are side-lined.

Khadse and Munde virtually raised a banner of revolt against Fadnavis for last 2-3 weeks. However, Fadnavis is quiet. He never replies to any of these allegations. He needs to be congratulated for this. He should not get tangled in any of these conflicts.  Let them play the dirty political game of mud-slinging. There is no need to get involved in this game.   Our objective is to create a uniform, harmonized and homogeneous society. No one should be left out and nobody should be elevated.

Maharashtra has witnessed an upright, efficient, and eminent leader in the form of Devendra Fadnavis for last five years. He is a capable leader with positive and constructive vision who works beyond caste politics and truly cares for Marathi identity. His capability and efficiency is remarkable and commendable. Nobody has levelled any   corruption charges on him. He did not lag behind in public relations as well. While in power he took many ambitious decisions and implemented many schemes for the public interest. He has always kept his word. Targeting a leader like him clearly means inviting trouble upon oneself due to one's action and endangering one’s political career.

Devendra Fadnavis has not done anything that would invite criticism. If he had tried to bring Brahmanshahi then people would have rejected him right away. He skilfully solved the issue of Maratha reservation. He honestly tried to do as much as possible to improve the condition of farmers. He streamlined the pending issues of Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial. He tried hard to give social justice to all sections of society. Giving pension to retired journalists was also his decision. That is why targeting Fadnavis means targeting oneself. If someone within the BJP tries to target Modi or Shah, then what would happen to him? Similar incidences have occurred during the tenure of Atal Behari Vajpayee as well! Where are those people now who targeted Atalji then? People do not remember or care for them!

If one thinks of the foundation or core of the BJP, it is very clear that a BJP voter votes for the BJP with a Hindu mind set. —he does not consider whether a candidate belongs to Mali, Vanjari, Maratha or Kunbi community. He has crossed these boundaries of caste long back.  He does not care for the caste of a Chief Minister. What matters to him the most is that he is a BJP leader. Those who are trying to play politics inside the party on the basis of caste or working to form pressure groups should remember that their plans would immediately collapse like a house of cards. It is firmly established that from now on, the leader who will remain loyal to the basic ideology of the BJP, who will think beyond caste politics --only he/she will march ahead in the party. The fact is indeed etched in stone.
