The visit of 64 foreign envoys to Hyderabad displays India’s Covid-19 vaccine diplomacy

The visit of 64 foreign envoys to leading biotech companies in Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech and Biological E, displays India’s vaccine diplomacy and achievements, besides reach-out efforts to ensure future cooperation on the Covid-19 front. The trip was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Such visits will be facilitated in other cities as well.

The visit of 64 foreign envoys to leading biotech companies in Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech and Biological E, displays India’s vaccine diplomacy and achievements, besides reach-out efforts to ensure future cooperation on the Covid-19 front. The trip was organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Such visits will be facilitated in other cities as well.

The envoys -- including the Ambassadors and High Commissioners of Australia, Denmark, Croatia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and South Korea -- were taken on a flight following all Covid norms and regulations.

They were briefed about Covid-19 vaccine programmes and how India has taken the lead in fighting the pandemic. The leadership has been backed by statesmanship as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the vaccines would be available for all of humanity.

Speaking to India Today TV from Hyderabad, Denmark’s envoy to India, Ambassador Svane Freddy, said that he was proud to be part of India’s journey in taking the lead on the Covid front.

Ambassador Svane Freddy said, “It has been a great visit to Genome Valley, first to Bharat Biotech and then to Biological E. It is fantastic how India is setting the new standard. India is becoming a global hub for vaccines. It is impressive. India is moving and taking a lead. I am proud to be part of that.”

Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Biotech International Limited, made a presentation to the Foreign Heads of Mission where he said that 33% of global vaccines are produced in the Genome Valley. He also spoke of Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making the vaccines available for all of humanity and that the industry will see his dream is realised, sources said.

Hyderabad has the largest FDA-approved vaccine facilities. India has been contributing significantly to global efforts against Covid 19 pandemic. There is a lot of interest in India’s vaccine development efforts.
