Over last few days am regularly in touch with few Hindu families in Leicester, UK.

Here are the points that UK media has completely ignored, or deliberately not covered:

1. Various Hindu families have temporarily moved out of Leicester.

2. Almost all Hindu families have received threats of ‘acid attacks’ on women.

3. The Police is aware of this.

4. During peak violence, the Police asked the Hindu families to “not display any Diwali decorations outside their homes”.

Even if ‘murtis’ were visible from the windows, they asked to hide them or remove them “for time being”.

5. When I asked them about the statements issued by various temples, one of them angrily replied, “What will Police do when they use acid on the women? What did Police do anyway when they were removing the ‘Dhwaja’? They stood there, right?”

6. Yet, the local community has informed the Police about presence of ‘corrosive substances’ in bags of some Muslims lurking around Navratri and religious venues, as if they’re marking the women.

But no response from the Police.

7. The remaining Hindu families are on constant vigil. Hindu women are still under tremendous fear, due to the ‘acid attack’ threats.

They feel as if they’re constantly under watch.

8. Some key questions raised are, “Who are they to tell us what ideology to follow or not follow? We never interfere in what they do, we’ve always lived in peace, but this is not all of a sudden. We knew something was brewing since long”.

9. Every media reporter did meet the Hindu families, and they told them their side of the story, but not a single media house published or aired their story. “It was as if they had come with a story already in mind”, said one of them.

10. Instead fake or one sided stories were published, even by Leicester based local media.

The threats of ‘acid attacks’, the marking of women, stalking, Police asking to remove Diwali decorations—no media covered this.

11. I spoke to 3 families from Leicester, one family being our relatives, and other two being totally unrelated. And few people in Harrow, Kenton & Wembley areas of London.

All of them have left Leicester for time being, as they don’t want to spend Diwali in such situation.

12. Before labelling the Hindu families anything, do see the whole picture. It’s a rude shock to them as well, as when needed the entire system stood with the terrorists. Those families are literally on their own, they feel so.
