There might have been quite a number of powerful detona-
tors used only by the defence establishments in pulling
down the Babri Masjid of Ayodhya on December 6,1992,
according to data and information collected for the
Pakistani Intelligence outfit, Inter-Service Intel-
ligence.
This was reportedly disclosed at a secret meeting of a
few Islamic fundamentalist groups at Garikhana Masjid in
Shillong a few months after the demolition, according to
a senior official of Central Intelligence organisation.
The ISI agents always discarded that the demolition was
engineered by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
But it was rather Shiv Sena cadres and some other Sangh
parivar groups which were involved there.
The plan for demolishing the mosque, built years before
the birth of the Mughal emperor Zahiruddin Mohammad Babar
by the Eunuch dynasty, was known to the ISI.
It may be recalled that the present RSS chief, Prof
Rajendra Singh, himself warned the former Prime Minister
P V Narasimha Rao about the demolition plan but Mr Rao
did not apply adequate caution.
The ISI sleuths were believed to have smelt a rat for two
reasons. First, inaction on the part of Mr Rao. Second,
without detonators, the Babri Masjid structure could not
be brought down and they could have been only in the
custody of some defence establishment.
