China today criticised the decision to put Advani in charge of
Jammu and Kashmir. "it is expected to cast a new shadow over the
Kashmir issue, the major dispute between India and Pakistan in
the past more than five decades, after Advani took charge of the
Kashmir affairs," the official Xinhua news agency commented. The
report described Advani as being "intransigent" on the Kashmir
issue.
