The successful nuclear tests conducted at Pokaran merits a place
among our achievements, said Shri Jayendra Saraswati, the
Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. He congratulated
the scientists and the Prime Minister for the feat.

The world will now take notice of the progress we have made not
only in the field of science and technology but also in our
pursuit of using our knowledge for peaceful purposes, added the
religious leader who has been touring the country for sometime.

The nuclear implosions are the result of the country's brilliant
scientific and technological research, hailed Jagadguru Jayendra,
who was on his way to Guwahati, to inaugurate the Balaji temple
there.

The punitive sanctions imposed by some countries cannot affect
the Indian economy, he added. Our domestic markets and manpower
are capable of containing any threat, said the Shankaracharya.
