A suspected agent of Pakistan's
Inter-Services Intelligence and alleged accomplice of the hijackers of
the Indian Airlines flight IC-814 in 1999, was arrested from Thane district,
the police claims.
According to the police, Ayub Mohammad
Nisar alias Mohammed Ayub Yunus alias Mohammed Fayyaz, is suspected to
be an ISI agent and hails from Bangladesh. He was arrested by the police
from Mumbra on Saturday.
He came to India on a tourist visa
for a pilgrimage to Ajmer, officials from the Thane crime branch said.
They added that his visa expired in December 2000 and since then he has
been staying illegally at Mumbra.
A forged driving licence and some
incriminating documents have been seized from his possession after his
arrest on Saturday, the police said adding, that two agents of Regional
Transport Office have also been arrested in this connection.
