We, the citizens of Gujarat, from
different walks of life, are deeply concerned over the unabated violence
in the State. This is no less than a great tragedy. It is clear that the
vested interests are behind the orgy and the culprits have no community.
The forces behind the nefarious game are out to destroy the image of Gujarat
as a progressive and forward-looking state.
There is no alternative to communal
harmony in any society. All communities will have to learn to live together
peacefully. The time has come for all the concerned citizens of Gujarat
to stand up in defense of human values, we so clearly cherish. The continuation
of the crisis is neither in the interest of Gujarat as a state nor in the
interest of the nation as a whole. Only the forces o anarchy would benefit
out of it. These forces even do not mind sacrificing human lives for their
ulterior motives, holding the peace loving state to ransom.
We appeal to the fellow citizens
to exert their moral pressure and to initiate a movement for the return
of peace and harmony in Gujarat and help the government to restore Law
and Order forthwith. We also urge the print and electronic media, to help
winning the public opinion to do everything that would encourage a return
to the path of sanity.
It is felt that the ill-fated statements,
lacking in understanding and clarity, by the persons from within and outside
the state, do no justice to Gujarat. We appeal to them, to refrain from
making such statements.
Gujarat is and will continue to
remain business friendly. The trade as well as the industry has taken in
its stride the current crisis and is looking to the future with confidence.
Gujarat's Spirit o Enterprise remains intact as ever. Gujarat shall march
ahead.
