Critical of celebrities taking up advertisement contracts with tainted company Home Trade involved in the Nagpur Co-operative Bank seam, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today said icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan should not hanker after money by accepting such a contract.

Icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan should not accept advertisements from firms of doubtful integrity and should check before they accept the offer, he told the Rajya Sabha, calling attention on securities scam in co-operative banks.

Rajeev Shukla (of the Loktantric Congress) immediately retorted that Mr Singh's dose friend and superstar Amitabh Bachchan too was undertaking such works Amar Singh said Mr Bachchan was doing it for companies like ICICI and Maruti.

Earlier, Mr Shukla said the co-op seam was more in the nature of a fraud as the CEO of Home Trade Sanjay Aggarwal had not even paid crores of rupees he had promised Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin for doing the company's advertisement. - Agencies
