The city police recovered around
eight kg of suspected RDX from a shoe-factory in Chamanganj area. The police
also recovered 11 cartridges and two country-made 315 bore pistols in Chamanganj
area and nabbed one person in this connection. Other miscreants managed
to escape from the spot.
The SP City Shiv Sagar Singh said
that on a tip-off of an informer a team of police personnel raided the
house of Anshar Ahmed in Kushorewali Gali in Chamanganj. At the time of
the raid Anshar was not found in his house and was working in the shoe
factory. The team then went to the factory near his house and caught him
and searched the factory premises.
Later, on revelations of Anshar
that the consignment was kept in the factory of one Mujib Ali on Chandika
Devi Road the police raided the factory and caught Chotte Aley. However,
Mujib was not in the factory and escaped after receiving information of
the raid. During interrogation Aley informed the police about the consignment.
One official of the team claimed that white powder was nothing but RDX.
SP City Singh said that the police
recovered eight kilograms of explosive material comprising gun powder,
sulphur and potassium chloride powder. Singh denied that the explosive
material was research developed explosive.
He said that 11 cartridges and two
country-made 315 bore pistols were also recovered from the possession of
those arrested. Meanwhile the police had decided to carry out a massive
hunt for the two other suspected persons. The police had started the interrogation
of Anshar and were also trying to find out as to where he had brought these
explosives and for what purpose.
