Impersonator on the loose

Impersonator on the loose

The Gujarat political situation is totally polarised after Godhra carnage, the reaction thereof and bombardment on the senses by pseudo secular parties, followed by the media. The impending elections have worried the Congress extremely. Baffled Congress leaders saw hope in Shanker Singh Vaghela, so the Congress president promptly nominated him as the president of the Gujarat unit to counter Narendra Modi, the caretaker Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The entire opposition was bent on delaying the elections. Fortunately for them, the State Chief Election Commissioner concurred with their wishes despite the fact of normalcy in the state, although EC has been conducting elections during really disturbed situations in J&K and earlier in Assam and Punjab.

Newly nominated PCC Chief, Vaghela took a U-turn on traditional Congress policies and openly started playing the Hindu card, for he thought Muslims have no option but to vote for Congress, especially if the Opposition puts up a joint fight against the BJP.

In such pursuit, Vaghela paraded one Swami Adokshajanand, in various towns and cities as Jagadguru Shankracharaya of Goverdhan Puri Peeth. The young lad from Banda, donning a saffron robe, has been impersonating the Jagadguru Shankracharaya of Goverdhan Math Puri, Swami Nischalanand Saraswati for long. Some conspirators are behind this move to launch a propaganda assault on Sangh Parivar, using the Hindu weapon as the institution of Jagadguru Shankracharya, the most powerful, popular and recognised authority among the Hindus for the last 2,500 years. He has come handy to Sangh Parivar opponents, who made use of him extensively in India and abroad. He was used by Muslim and Christian organisations, as well as by political opponents of Sangh Parivar.

Numerous acts of impersonation have been going on in India and outside, in spite of the due recognition of Jagadguru Shankracharaya Swami Nischalanand of Goverdhan Math Puri by the State Government of Orissa and Hindu Religious Endowment Act (1951). After the arrest of Adokshajanand, honble High Court in Orissa unambiguously reaffirmed: "Swami Nischalanand Saraswati was the recognised Jagadguru Shankracharaya of Goverdhan Peetham and as such he has the recognised right of enjoying all legal rights and privileges and status associated with the honoured position of Shankracharaya." Not only this, the High Court also debarred Adokshajanand from using the title of Jagadguru Shankracharaya of Goverdhan Peeth, apart from prohibiting him from going within the radius of 1,000 meters of the temple. And yet the impostor continues to claim to be Shankracharaya of Puri Peeth. It is high time that his passport is impounded, criminal cases filed in Gujarat against him are pursued actively and a CBI investigation launched for his possible links with Islamic fundamentalists funded by the ISI.

When the news of Adokshajanands speeches in Gujarat reached Swami Nischalanandji, he immediately sent his personal and legal advisor P N Mishra, an advocate practising in Kolkatta High Court and Supreme Court, to Gujarat. Mishra spoke to Vaghela and informed that Adokshajanand was an impostor, that he was arrested in Puri and about High Courts judgement against him. Vaghelas response was strange, as he was not worried about whether he was a fake or a genuine Shankracharaya. He did not mind using him for propaganda, as Adokshajanand was the only available saffron alternative. P N Mishra addressed the Press Conference in Ahmedabad, exposing the whole game. Undeterred by this, the Congress went on with their propaganda. The corporation of Ahmedabad controlled by the Congress felicitated him. The Mayor, pre informed about his impersonation, pleaded helplessness. Even Ajit Jogi, the Congress Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh tried thrice to persuade Vaghela not to use Adokshajanand, for he was fake. Jogi has been in contact with Nischalanandji Maharaj for quite some time to arrange a meeting between His Holiness and the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Some of Adokshajanands activities can be traced. Material downloaded from the web site of the Milli Gazette, Jamia Nagar www.milligazatte.com throws light on Adokshajanand. The impersonator procured an invitation for a journey to Libiya from the Gaddafi International Foundation for Charity Association (GIFCA) headed by Saiful Islam, son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Adokshajanand was flown to Tripoli unto Sirte along with a group of 30 Indians including Pandit N K Sharma, once political advisor of ex-PM, Narasimha Rao. As per the report, the Indian group sat around Gaddafi and listened to his inciting lecture. Those who attended Gaddafis lecture included Maulana Asad Madani as President of Jamaite-Ulema-E-Hind and representative group of Deoband and many anti Sangh Parivar elements.

Indian Express published the PTI news item of dateline, Srinagar June 26, 2000, as follows, Jagadguru Shankracharaya, Swami Ninchalanand Saraswati of Goverdhan Peetham, arrived here today... A photo was also published with the caption naming him thus. Strangely the photo was of Adokshajanand. From the material down loaded from the website of Policy Institute for Religion and State, www.pifras.org, on 18th July, 2002 at Washington DC,. Adokshajanand Teerth spoke on religion and politics, impersonating himself as His Holiness, yet again. But Vaghela obviously does not have any qualms about using the habitual thug.
