`The Vishwa Hindu Parishad-sponsored
Dharam Raksha Sammelan on Sunday made it clear that the idol of Ram Lalla
installed at the makeshift temple in Ayodhya would not be removed and the
suggestion of the court regarding archaeological excavations was unacceptable.
The sammelan also insisted that either the Muslims hand over the disputed
land on their own or Parliament enact a law so that the land could be handed
over to the Hindus failing which the people should be prepared for another
Mahabharat.
The Godhra carnage, the attack on
the Akshardham temple, the bullying tactics of the US, Pak-sponsored terrorism
and a veiled criticism of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee also found
mention in the speeches of the sants and the office-bearers of the VHP
and the Bajrang Dal. The sammelan was held to discuss and pass the three
resolutions which had featured at the two-day Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal
meeting on Saturday.
The resolutions were put forth
by international working president of the VHP Ashok Singhal who dwelt on
the emotive appeal which the Ram Janambhoomi had for the Hindus and how
the VHP had always striven to uphold the Hindutva cause.
VHP international general secretary
Praveen Bhai Togadia began his address by putting many posers. He desired
to know if a Ram temple was built at Mecca or Madina would the Muslims
tolerate it. If not, then how could they expect the Hindus to tolerate
a masjid at the site of Ram Janambhoomi. Similarly, he asked would the
Americans allow an Osama masjid at the site of the World Trade Center?
Referring to the suggestion of the
court on archaeological excavations at Ram Janambhoomi, he said such excavations
should be carried out on the 30,000 mosques which earlier were temples.
Mr Togadia said if the Hindus could give lakhs of acres of land for the
creation of Pakistan, could not the Muslims give the Ram Janambhoomi land
to the Hindus. If the country could have three Muslim presidents why was
it that there could be no Hindu chief minister in Kashmir, he asked.
Mr Togadia slammed the secularists
for allowing things to reach this pass and said the country had to bear
the bane of three Ghaznis the secular Ghazni, the Jehadi Ghazni and the
Rajya Ghazni. He said all three needed to be crushed. He demanded a ban
on madrasas.
Jagat Guru Vasudevanand Shankaracharya
of Allahabad slammed the court for suggesting that archaeological excavations
be carried out at Ram Janambhoomi.
