Drilling a hole in the Bangladesh Government's recent contention that ISI was not operating from its land, the West Bengal police on Monday busted a major ISI network by arresting four of its agents, including a woman, from Jalangi and Domkal police stations of Murshidabad district.

The police on Monday morning picked up Ziauddin, Ahmed Biswas, a fish vendor, his wife Ismat Ara Biwas, Golam Murtaza alias Bapi, a PCO operator and Ghulam Gais from Jalnagi and Domkal. Highly sensitive documents were recovered from them, district administration sources said. A fifth person however, managed to give the cops the slip.

The league was remote-controlled by one Amir alias Bhaisahab who in turn was guided by a Bara Bhaisahab - a could be Pakistani diplomat based in a posh (Bonani) area of Dhaka, said Murshidabad Superintendant of Police.

Amir had cultivated a resident agent at Jalangi in Murshidabad who used to raise modules within the defence forces and collect inputs pertaining to their movement and deployment, the SP said. A telephone number 0088011809193 has been found from Ziauddin, which he said belonged to his boss in Dhaka.

Various incriminating documents that have been seized from the house of Ziauddin include a 25-point charter of duty delineating various tasks to be performed by him.

Among other things recovered from him are a map of Punes Indian Air Force station, list of names and locations of the various heads of the departments in the Army, Air Force and their telephone numbers, details of Army and Air Force units, papers related to defence equipment in the Army etc, the police said.

According to Ziauddin, who has been working for the ISI for the last 5 years, he was recruited by one Hasan Habib of Jalangi at the behest of one Nurul Islam, a Bangladeshi national and an ex-service man of Pakistani Army. Conceding that these agents concentrated on recruiting operatives from the Signals department and computer data operators, Ziauddin has confessed that he has already recruited various security personnel like one Aufan Ukil of Indian Air Force and NK Hasan Biswas in the Signal Regiment of the Army, the SP maintained.

Both Biwas and Ukil have accompanied him to Dhaka, Ziauddin has said.

The operatives have been collecting information about location and type of ammunition depots and the officers who commanded them, details of various defence units, existing and those which were to be raised and personal profiles of the generals of Indian Army, the police said, adding Ismat Ara seems to be a very ambitious woman who used to take the entire charge of Ziauddin and contact his Pak officials when he was away from home.
