Three persons were injured and two
shops set ablaze on Tuesday in communal clashes triggered by an incident
of eve teasing prompting authorities to clamp curfew on parts of Dahod
district town in central Gujarat.
Police lobbed teargas shells to
quell rioting mobs.
The trouble erupted after a tribal
woman was allegedly teased by a group of persons in a predominantly minority
community in Court Road area, police said.
The woman complained about the incident
to her brother who confronted the eve-teasers and was allegedly beaten
up, police said.
Thereafter, groups of both communities
took to the streets, brandishing swords and other sharp-edged weapons,
police said.
The injured were rushed to Vadodara
Civil Hospital and their condition was stable.
The situation is under control,
police said adding a company of state reserve police has reached the town
and another has been requisitioned from Godhra.
