The Mumbai Crime Branch has recovered
huge cache of arms from an alleged Students Islamic Movement of India cell
near Mumbai.
A team of officials, led by Assistant
Commissioner of Police Ramakant Padwal, raided Padgah village, around 90
kms from Mumbai, after interrogating one of the accused held in Mulund
bomb blast case.
They recovered 253 grenades, 23
detonators, AK-46 rifles and RDX from a dry well.
Police claim the place is a nerve
centre of SIMI and also suspects some ISI involvement. They claimed that
the ammunition had been stored by SIMI activists and Lashkar-e-Toiba militants
who had planned a series of bomb blasts in and around Mumbai.
Altogether nine persons have been
arrested in Mulund bomb blast case. They allegedly planned a powerful explosion
in a local train at Mulund railway station which claimed 11 lives.
Prime accused Saquib Nachan, who
has been arrested in this case, hails from Padgah village. He has also
been arrested in Ghatkopar bomb blast case and police have established
a link between the two explosions. (With PTI inputs)
