What type of illnesses are you prone
to? What will be the nature of the disease and its duration? How does one
go about diagnosing a particular disease - do we take into account physical
symptoms only? Some of these questions that have perturbed mankind for
ages find ready answers in the science of astrology, says Dr Dinesh Sharma.
Dr Sharma, who was given the Dhanwantri
Award instituted by the All-India Integrated Medical Association (AIIMA)
of Punjab today, teaches in Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College and Hospital
of Amloh (Mandi Gobindgarh). He is working towards the fusion of the basic
tenets of ayurveda, astrology and Vaastu for treatment of patients.
These sciences complement each other
and trace their roots to the Vedas. He says that it is possible to determine
the day, time and season through astrology when certain persons would be
prone to certain illnesses. It's also possible to suggest preventive measures
against a particular illness.
Medicinal astrology, as this branch
is popularly known, when further assisted by Vaastu, can create a conducive
environment for treatment. If, for example, the patient's heed is facing
south, operations are more likely to succeed. X-ray machines and other
electric/electronic equipments, when placed towards south-east, promise
greater accuracy in diagnosis.
According to Dr Sharma, ayurvedic
therapy combined with medicinal astrology has yielded good results, as
his own experience of nearly two decades has shown.
Dr Sharma has been trying to spread
awareness in this regard through seminars and debates in Punjab, Haryana,
Chandigarh and Delhi. He has also been given the Jyotish Shromani, Jyotish
Bhaskar, and Jyotish Maharishi awards among many other honours.
