Choosing yet another soft target,
militants killed five members of a Gujjar family, including three children
and one woman, and set their house on fire late last night in Rajouri district
in Jammu and Kashmir, Police sources said here today.
Heavily armed militants barged into
the house of Kesar Din Gujjar in village Keri and demanded food. After
having their fill, they tortured the family members and later killed them,
police said.
Before fleeing the militants, also
set their house on fire, they said. The army and other security forces
have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to nab them.
This was the second killing by militants
of a Gujjar family in the area in eight days. Last Monday militants killed
five members of nomadic Gujjar-Bakerwal family at Mehratop chowkian in
Rajouri district.
In another incident, security forces
shot dead three militants in Surankote forest area of Poonch district early
today. The encounter is still on, police added.
