Police on Saturday arrested one
of Bihar's most wanted criminal and contract killer Sultan Mian and rescued
Kanchan Mishra, whom he allegedly abducted and married forcibly, from Siwan
town.
Sultan was arrested by the Siwan
district police when he was moving with Kanchan Mishra in the town, Deputy
Inspector General of Police (Provision) and spokesman for Bihar police
Rituraj told PTI in Patna.
The main accused in last year's
killing of a Patna-based businessman Manoj Kamalia, Sultan was wanted in
several cases of murder, loot and kidnapping.
Sultan hit the headlines when National
Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Purnima Advani, on the complaint
of Mishra's mother Sachita Devi, had conducted an inquiry and ordered the
state police on December 17 to trace Mishra within ten days and produce
her before the Commission.
However, Sultan, who eluded the
police for the last several years could not be held.
Sachita Devi had complained to the
NCW that her married daughter was abducted by Sultan -- considered close
to a controversial ruling RJD Lok Sabha member -- from Mainpura locality
in the state capital in the first week of November and then he married
her in a city mosque last year.
