Stone inscription found in Ayodhya

In an important finding, an ancient stone inscription in the Dev Nagari script and a foundation were discovered in the on-going excavation in the acquired land in Ayodhya today, sources said.

The inscribed stone, which was found in a trench, was expected to be extracted on Tuesday.

Stone pieces and a wall were found in other trenches south of makeshift structures.

A human figure in terracota, sand stone netting, decorated sand stone in three pieces were found in one trench, while broken bangle pieces, green glazed tile pieces, were found in other trenches, the sources said.

The ASI team started preparations for digging of three new trenches situated in front of sanctum sanctorum of makeshift structure.
