Was release of NDF men catalyst for violence?

Could The main reason behind the Marad communal killings be the undue haste shown by the Kerala Government in dropping cases against the men from the dreaded Islamic fundamentalist oufit NDF, at the instance of the Minister for Industries Kunhalikutty?

The failure of the Intelligence agencies can very well be understood as there are reports of the warning by Tamil Nadu intelligence agencies about possible violence in Northern Kerala and they had even pointed out the possible areas. However, even after these warnings, the CM was not able to take any decision on this. The burning of a Tamil Nadu State transport bus at Kozhikode bus stand recently and the subsequent arrest of the culprits had clearly proved that fundamentalist elements were active in these areas.

However, whenever Chief Minister Antony was questioned on the matter, he either shied away or went on the defence as if it was a personal question. The Central intelligence agencies had also given prior warnings to Kerala Government about the possibilities of violence in the coming months and this was also not treated seriously by Antony.
