The anti-auto theft squad of North-West
District Police have arrested six Bangladeshis while they were planning
to commit dacoity in the Azadpur Subzi Mandi.
The arrested have been identified
as Akbar Ali alias Najrul (30), Mohaamad Salim (32), Abdul alias Mona (42),
Babul (33), Mohaamad Anwar (24) and Sheikh Anwar (21).
With their arrest, the North-West
district police claimed to have solved atleast 10 cases of robbery and
dacoity. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-West, Sanjay Singh
said acting on a tip-off, a police team comprising of SI Surya Prakash,
HC Virender Singh, Ct Amit Kumar, Ct Ajender under the supervision of Inspector
Rajinder Singh Dahiya arrested the six from KEla Godown after a minor struggle.
Spring-actuated knives and heavy iron rods were recovered from their possession.
On interrogation, they revealed that they had committed various crimes
including robbery, theft, bag cutting / lifting etc. They planned to target
businessmen and other people believed to be carrying money near business
centres around railway stations.
