One person was killed and five others,
including a police official, were injured in sporadic incidents of violence
in Afzal Sagar and Mallepally area on Thursday.

A.K. Khan said the trouble arose over a minor altercation at a hotel in
Mallepally area when some people tried to go away without paying the bill.
On a complaint, the police intervened and settled the matter.
Later, when a funeral procession
was passing through the area, a group of people started pelting stones
at the hotel and other shops and houses belonging to the other community.
A local leader, Mohammed Ghouse,
was seriouisly injured in the incident. He was rushed to a hospital but
succumbed to his injuries. Angered over the incident, members of the community
started attacking the house and properties of the other community.
Five persons, including ACP, Goshamahal
division, Rajab Ali, were injured. One person was also injured in an incident
of stabbing.
