Having established more than thrity
five camps in chittagong hill-tracts and all subdivisions bordering Tripura
and posh living spaces in Dhaka and Chittaong town , banned NLFT rebels
have now set up a hospital in Khagaracherri town in the chittagong hill-tracts
of Bangladesh for treatment of sick and injured members of the outfit.
The hospital , set up in collaboration with rich muslim businessmen of
the town, is located north of the Khagracherri army camp. While local patients
coming for treatment in the hospital will be charged fees the NLFT activists
will be treated free of cost by the doctors and nurses who have already
been appointed on contract. The hospital is scheduled to be formally opened
by the NLFT supremo Biswamohan Debbarma this month though no date has been
fixed .
Official agencies keeping tab on
militant movement and activities said that recently the NLFT (B) have shifted
their headquarter from remote Sajek range to Nooncherri near Bagaicherri
in Khagaracherri district of Chittagong hill-tracts. Apart from the remoteness
, location of the headquarter in Sajek range had been putting the NLFT
bosses in trouble to have ailing and injured rebel members treated . They
had to be rushed to either Chittagong or Dhaka for treatment which entailed
lot hassles and expenses . Sources said that most of the leading lights
of NLFT have already settled down in business after purchasing properties
including costly flats in Chittagong and Dhaka towns and expensive vehicles
. Their children are studying in english medium schools in Bangladesh .
Basing their information on confessions made by surrendered or nabbed NLFT
rebels in Tripura sources said that over the past one year NLFT top brass
have been hiring services of ´Kokborok´ (tribal language of
Tripura) speaking tribals in Chittagong hill-tracts to get works done .
More than thirty such youths have been working for NLFT including participation
in guerrilla operations within Tripura. Sources said that Kujendra Tripura
(38), a tribal resident of Dighinala area in Khagracherri district of the
Chittagong hill-tracts , is the leader of the thirty indigenous tribal
working for NLFT. His son is now studying in an english medium school in
Shillong . During the past year Kujendra Tripura has also worked as a contract
killer, liquidating a number of dissident NLFT activists at the behest
of the outfit´s president Biswamohan Debbarma.
