Question
I'm born to a Muslim family. Unfortunately,
my sister decided to get married to a non-Muslim. How should we act towards
her? Should we reject her? How about her future kids of that marriage?
Can theu be considered illegal?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious,
Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to
Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
You are advised not to cut off your
relations with your sister so long as you are in a non-Muslim country because
by severing all relations you are undermining any chance for guiding her
to the right way.
However, at the same time, you should
not condone her un-Islamic behavior. Rather, you should use every available
means at your disposal to make her aware of her sins so that she comes
back to the fold of Islam. Simply boycotting her in a non-Muslim country
would only abandon her forever to her un-Islamic ways.
Pray to Allah to guide her and to
inspire you with wisdom and beautiful preaching in order to wean her away
from her immoral ways.
Allah Almighty knows best.
