India has strongly protested to
Democrat edolphus towns for making statements in support of Khalistan in
the US house of representatives and causing the "propagandistic documents"
to be entered into the congressional records.
Deploring his statements made on
the floor of the house on January 21, Indian Ambassador Lalit Mansingh
in a letter to towns said, "We also protest the patently propagandistic
documents of the so- called 'Council of Khalistan' that you have caused
to be entered into the record of the house.
"As much as I regard these statements
for their patent falsehood, I am equally pained at the fact that the record
of a body as August as the US house of representatives continues to be
suffused by the inclusion of the trash that is put out by the so-called
'Council of Khalistan.'"
Towns periodically introduced into
the house records wild statements by the "President of Khalistan" Gurmeet
Singh Aulakh and reinforced them with his own allegations.
In the letter, Mansingh pointed
out that he has written to towns in the past offering to meet him and discuss
the issues raised by him but he has never replied to any of the letters.
In the latest "message to the Sikhs"
issued by Aulakh and introduced by towns in the congressional records,
Aulakh said that "The effort to liberate the Sikh homeland, Khalsitan:
must continue."
Towns in his speech said that the
US has a "moral obligation" to support secessionist movements in India.
