in Focus" was also released during the convention. This book contains the
report of Human Rights Summit of South Asia Region and 11th Annual General
Meeting of Panun Kashmir Movement held in April this year.
The convention also decided to hold
"Kashmiri Pandit Ladies Conference": every year at Jammu. This year convention
will be held in December 2004. Mr P K Bhan recited a poem on the occasion
with regard to Kashmiri Pandits' struggle in exile.
A resolution on the Permanent Resident
(Disqualification) Bill was presented by Mrs Nirmal Dhar in the convention.
The convention held that passing of this controversial Bill was shocking
for Kashmiri Pandit community in general and the women of the community
in particular.
The speakers held that a sizable
number of Kashmiri Pandit women, which have been victim of forced exodus
have failed to obtain Permanent Resident Certificates of this State till
date, which was a serious matter. The convention appealed the State Government
to review and repeal the said Bill and restore and respect fundamental
rights of the women of Jammu and Kashmir.
