Sachin Tendulkar's private visit to the famous
Kukke Subramanya temple in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka has stirred
up a wave of interest in the temple and its rituals.
"kukkesubramanya.Com", a website
on the temple and rituals performed there and other information relating to
it, received some 17.50 lakh hits from 6 am to 1 pm yesterday," Raghavendra
Shastri, who manages the website, said.
He said the site gets about 1,000 to 1,500
hits every day and on the first day of Tendulkar's visit on Sunday when he
performed various rituals, the number went up to 47,000 hits.
"Some 17,50,220 hits were received (on
Monday) resulting in the system crashing," but it was set right later
in the afternoon, Shastri, the Corporate President of Getit Yellow Pages,
said.
He said it was also flooded with inquiries
about the various poojas and rituals in the temple, particularly about those
performed by Tendulkar and his wife Anjali. The inquiries were directed to
the temple authorities.
Shastri also manages nine other websites including
those on temples at Udupi, Dharmasthala, Katil and Kollur as a non-commercial
venture.
Tendulkar concluded his two-day spiritual
sojourn at the temple yesterday.
