The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise
community singing of "Vande Mataram" in all the districts of the
country on September 7 and will chalk out a detailed plan for further action
on the issue in its three-day national executive meeting commencing on the
same day at Dehradun.
"We strongly protest against the communal
politics of the UPA government, which has made singing Vande Mataram optional,"
party national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
"By doing this, the Central government
has insulted national feelings. This is nothing but vote-bank politics."
He further accused the government of surrendering
to the whims of fanatics who did not want to sing Vande Mataram despite it
being a national song.
