In an incident reminiscent of 10-year-old
Aman's death last year that grabbed newspaper headlines, tight security arrangements
at the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital here following AICC general secretary Rahul
Gandhi's visit on Tuesday allegedly claimed life of a seriously injured policeman.
Aman, who had suffered serious head injuries
while playing at a local park, could not be taken to hospital in time owing
to traffic curbs during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to city on July
3 last.
According to reports, 40-year-old constable
Dharmendra Kumar, posted at Attarra police station in Banda, had sustained
serious injuries in a road mishap in Bindki area of Fatehpur early on Tuesday.
He was brought to the LLR Hospital for treatment on Tuesday morning but died
at the gates of the Emergency (Casualty) ward of the LLR Hospital after being
denied admission for well over 45 minutes on grounds of security following
Rahul's visit to the hospital to meet Kalka Mail mishap victims.
Cops accompanying Dharmendra claimed that
their colleague died as Rahul's security entourage did not allow them to take
him to the Emergency ward till the time the Congress leader was present in
the hospital.
