The BJP reacted strongly to the detainment
of Anna Hazare by the Delhi Police before his fast on Monday saying that the
government was acting stubborn which will only make the fight against corruption
difficult to handle.
BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said,
"The state is unfortunate. This is a stubbornness of government, this
movement will become too difficult to handle. We are with Anna Hazare or any
voice that's against corruption."
Naqvi also said that the government has become
so insecure that it's becoming authoritarian. Accusing the Centre of creating
a situation worse than that of emergency, he added that senior BJP leaders
were discussing the issue and will definitely take action within a few hours.
"Our senior party leaders are discussing
this issue. We will do something in a couple of hours from now.This situation
is worse than emergency and its all due to arrogant attitude to government,"
Naqvi said.
Reacting to claims that Anna's movement is
allegedly supported by the RSS, Naqvi said he saw no problem with that. He
also said that the BJP would support any fight against corruption, no matter
who is leading it.
'If RSS is supporting Anna's movement then
whats the problem? We are supporting any movement against corruption,"
Naqvi said.
BJP also said that they would move an adjournment
motion against the government for creating an Emergency like situation by
detaining Anna.
"This is like emergency. We are likely
to move an adjournment motion," said Prakash Jawedkar.l
The Delhi Police detained Anna Hazare, Kiran
Bedil Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia on Monday morning from Anna's Supreme
Enclave residence.
