Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, while
addressing the Gram Sabha at Ralegan Siddhi on Friday, critisised the Central
Government for betraying the country over the Lokpal issue and called Union
Home Minister P Chidambaram a liar. It was Hazare's first public appearance
since the 13-day long fast at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
"The Government was betraying us from
day one on the Lokpal Bill," said the 74-year-old anti-corruption crusader.
"Home Minister is a liar, he does not
speak the truth," Hazare further said.
"I had decided I will go to jail to continue
my fight," he added.
"If you fight for your country and get
jailed, it's a blessing," he said.
Anticipating that the fight against corruption
will last over 15 years, Hazare called for change, saying, "One seed
of change will lead to thousands of seeds of change. Every young Indian must
sow one seed of change."
"Some of us have to sacrifice to ensure
benefit for future generation. It's not enough to say I am Anna; one has to
change their character. I believe even if a little change can be done, it's
always good," said the anti-corruption crusader.
Emphasising that his movement is a fight for
second independence struggle, Hazare said, "We still haven't got real
freedom".
"Youth power is national power. The day
the youth is awakened, true freedom will come," said Hazare.
