Judging by what has already been released, we can very reasonably expect that there will some inaccuracies even in the rest of the film, Mewar royal MK Vishvaraj Singh said.

Mewar royal MK Vishvaraj Singh has cautioned against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati in an interview with India Today, suggesting the film is likely to contain inaccuracies that will hurt public sentiments.

Speaking to India Today TV's Rajdeep Sardesai, Singh, the son of the Maharana of the Mewar dynasty Mahendra Singh Mewar, said based what has been seen of Padmavati so far, it could be "reasonably" assumed that the film will have inaccuracies in how it portrays history.

Notably, recently MK Vishvaraj Singh is the Mewar royal who recently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Censor Board chief Prasoon Joshi, requesting them to withhold the certification and release of Bhansali's Padmavati .

In his letter, Singh asked the government to safeguard the history and dignity of its citizens. He said the movie's makers haven't come up with a well-established and accepted historical source, and such errors can't be pointed out if the screening is done now.

In his interview with India Today, Vishvaraj Singh said no sources other than the poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi had been mentioned so far, and that Jayasi "had the humility to accept that he is a poet, not a historian."

"There is no other name come up...who has been referred to, no other authority," he said.

And what about the argument that the movie needs to be seen first before any judgments can be made?

"Judging by what has already been released, we can very reasonably expect that there will some inaccuracies even in (the) rest of the film," Vishvaraj Singh said.

With just two weeks left for its official release, protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati have been raging in many parts of the country.
