Wanted Naxal held during search

A wanted naxalite was arrested during the search operation carried out by joint team of District Police Force (DPF) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) in Keelam forest under Chhotedongar police station limits. The arrested ultra has been identified as Salam Korram alias Laxman (25), a resident of Hajapalpara hamlet in Keelam village.Taking serious concern over naxal menace which has reportedly increased in past few months, the district police and security forces of DPF, CAF, Special Task Force (SPF), Border Security Force (BSP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have intensified search operation in different forest areas of restive Narainpur district under naxal-affected Bastar division of Chhattisgarh Station.

As part of this anti-naxal operation, the joint contingent of DPF and CAF had gone for searching in forested patches of Becha, Hitulwad, Keelam, Brehbeda and Gaurdand. While the security forces were passing through Keelam forest, they spotted a suspicious person trying to hide self behind the bushes. Suspecting his as a naxal, the team immediately cordoned-off the area and arrested him who was later identified as Laxman, an outlaw.According to police sources, the ultra Laxman was active as Janatana Sarkar President in Keelam. He joined the banned outfit of Maoist some six years before under the influence of a naxalites like Niti alias Urmila, Bhano, Sumitra, Shobha and Kosa. In 2014, Laxman was appointed as Janatana Sarkar President for Keelam area. Apart from various naxal incidents, Laxman has admitted his involvement in a naxal encounter that occurred on January 10, 2018, between the forest of Irpanar and Kawanar in insurgency-hit Narainpur district.The arrested ultra Laxman has been booked under relevant sections and produced before local court from where he has been sent to jail.
