In a fresh salvo against a belligerent China, India raked up the draconian national security law which has been imposed by the latter in Hong Kong.

As per a report in the Times of India, India broke its silence on this issue at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva stating that it has been keeping a close tab on the developments in Hong Kong.

India's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Rajiv Chander said that, "We have heard several statements expressing concern on these developments. We hope the relevant parties will take into account these views and address them properly, seriously and objectively".

The report claims that the US was banking on India to raise the Hong Kong issue - which has now seen 27 countries coming together to condemn the new China imposed law.

In short, this law criminalises any act of:

* secession - breaking away from the country

* subversion - undermining the power or authority of the central government

* terrorism - using violence or intimidation against people

* collusion with foreign or external forces

Critics argue that the new laws mean that the autonomy of Hong Kong is effectively over.

This incident comes amid India's rising offensive against China which recently included banning 59 prominent Chinese apps in the country over national security issues.
