Around 125 flyers from several countries participated in the International Kite Festival based on the G-20 theme "One Earth, One Family, One Future".
Tourists revelled as kites filled the skies at India's International Kite festival in Gujarat's Vadodara on Saturday. Australia, Canada, France, Russia, Germany, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Colombia, Denmark, New Zealand, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Belgium, Bahrain, Iraq and Malaysia are among the 68 countries that participated in the event.
Around 125 flyers from several countries participated in the International Kite Festival based on the G-20 theme "One Earth, One Family, One Future". Apart from international participants, 65 kite flyers from 14 states in India and 660 from different parts of the state also took part in the event which ended on January 14.
Tourists, including children, visited the kite flying ground in Vadodara to witness the vibrant kites flown by participants from different countries.

"For me, the important (thing) is to make and to give a smile on the kids' faces," John, a participant from Belgium, told ANI.
"I am very happy that we are back again in the kite fields to do this very good festival," said Constantine from Greece.
Kites of all shapes and colours, including one shaped like the iconic video game character 'Mario', filled the skies, reported Reuters.
In Gujarat, the kite festival is organised on the occasion of Makar Sankranti every year. It is known as 'Uttarayan' in the state and is celebrated by flying kites with great zeal and joy. The festival will end on January 14.
"The kite festival is an opportunity to touch the sky and reach new heights. Kites are a symbol of progress, prosperity, and flight," Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said at the inauguration of the International Kite Festival 2023. |
